Choose a name for the proposed new Liverpool station

1/2

Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram has pledged to build a new station on the site of the former St James station which closed in 1917.

Site of proposed new station

The station would be located between Liverpool Central and Brunswick Station on the Northern Line and include passenger toilets, a cycle hub, step-free access to and between both platforms and a passenger drop-off area outside.

Why does the station need a new name?

The original station on the site opened in 1874 and was named after the nearby parish church. With St James not being a colloquially known “area name” in Liverpool, coupled with the risk of creating confusion amongst the travelling public with the existing James Street station on the Merseyrail network (and other similar named stations on the national network), a new name for the station is going to be needed to reflect the modern area in which it will be located.

A sifting process allowed us to narrow the shortlist down to three potential names, which are now up for a public vote.

How can you help? Please select your preferred name from the three options below.
